Our Story
My grandmother called me Caay.
She lived two streets away from us here in Nashville. I couldn't say "Caroline" when I was little. It came out "Caay," and it stuck. To her, I was Caay until the day she passed. To my mother, to my husband James, to anyone who's known me long enough, I've always been Caay.
When James and I sat down to name the boutique, there was never a question what I'd call it.
How It Started
Caayshop opened in Nashville in 1998. I was tired of stores that made women feel like an afterthought. Tired of trends designed for bodies most women didn't have. Tired of walking into boutiques and feeling invisible.
So we built something different. Not a fashion house. Not a luxury showroom. Just a place that felt like the wardrobe of a really stylish friend, one who knew your size, your taste, and exactly what you needed.
James built the shelves. Answered emails at midnight. Drove all over Tennessee picking up fabric when I ran out. Our daughter Hannah grew up inside these walls. She knows every corner of this store.
It was never just a store. It was a promise between two people that something beautiful was worth building together.
What We Believe
Every piece in Caayshop was chosen with you in mind. Not the idea of a woman. Not a mannequin. Not a trend board. You. The real, breathing, multidimensional woman who has a dinner on Friday, errands on Saturday, and absolutely no interest in spending either feeling uncomfortable in something that doesn't suit her.
We believe every woman deserves to feel at home in what she's wearing. Every woman deserves a space made with her in mind. Every woman deserves to look in the mirror and feel exactly like herself, just on a really good day.
Closing After 27 Years
After 27 years, James and I have decided to step away and take care of our family. We are clearing the last of our Nashville stock, with discounts of up to 75%.
There will be no restock. There will be no next season. When they're gone, they're gone, and the doors close for the last time.
